Our mission: To help ensure that housing and other basic human needs are within everyone’s reach in an affordable and dignified manner.

Our membership: To prevent and ultimately end homelessness across our represented 10-counties, it is essential to have many voices and many hands supporting the effort.  Our members are the essential human resources we need to continue to develop services and support for individuals, families and veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

"Working together in a sustained, collaborative effort,
we can harness our greatest resource, our people, and change the course of history."
--President Barack Obama (2009)
Our history: In the early ’90s a growing phenomenon called ‘homelessness’ was becoming increasingly prominent in North Dakota.
In recognition of this, agencies within the Bismarck-Mandan community ranging from Mental Health, and Housing services to Legal Assistance and Academia, united to form a local homeless coalition. The mission: “To help  ensure that housing and other basic human needs are within  everyone’s reach in an affordable and dignified manner.”
Incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the State of North Dakota in 1997, the Missouri Valley Coalition for Homeless People, Inc. continues to realize that mission through person and program advocacy, public education, community coordinating, and empowering the homeless population.
